#15: McDLT, 1984
Price: $2.45
Promoted with the slogan “keep the hot side hot and the cool side cool,” the McDLT was famous for its split Styrofoam container. The gimmick impressed customers, delivering crisp lettuce and tomato alongside a hot patty, and briefly positioned McDonald’s as creatively innovative.

Environmental concerns ultimately doomed the packaging, and the sandwich vanished. Today, similar burgers cost around $6.00–$7.00. The McDLT remains best remembered through commercials and pop culture, often cited as a symbol of 1980s excess and experimentation.
