Katharine Ross: Fame, Five Marriages, and Her Lasting Love With Sam Elliott

Beginning in the mid-1980s, she established a second career writing books for young readers. Her early titles included Riddle Fun with the Scrabble People, The Baby Animals’ Party, and the illustrated story Bear Island.

Writing gave her a creative outlet that could be balanced more easily with motherhood and family life. Before long, she would apply her storytelling skills to an ambitious Western project starring Sam Elliott.
