The Life of All-American Actor Kevin Costner

In 2007, he turned more seriously toward music by forming the country-rock band Kevin Costner & Modern West. The group gave him a second creative outlet outside film, built around Americana, storytelling, touring, and the same wide-open themes that had often shaped his screen work.

The band also showed that Costner’s interest in performance was not limited to acting or directing. Music let him connect with audiences in a different way, through songs about roads, memory, family, and American life, just as his career was moving into a more unpredictable phase.
