The Outrageous Life of Legendary KISS Rockstar Gene Simmons

In 1995, MTV Unplugged brought together the original KISS members: Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley, and Peter Criss. The acoustic format stripped away some of the usual spectacle, but the emotional pull came from seeing the classic lineup share a stage again.

The performance excited longtime fans who remembered the chemistry of the 1970s version of the band. It was not yet the full makeup-and-costumes comeback, but it proved there was still enormous interest in the original four. KISS nostalgia was about to become powerful business again.
