#37: Rhode Island
Jobs Gained: 6.0%
Jobs Lost: 6.7%
Rhode Island had an active job market, with new jobs coming from health care, education, tourism, restaurants, small businesses, finance, and local services. Its coastal towns and cities can also support seasonal work, especially when travel and hospitality are strong.

Still, the losses side was heavy. A small state can feel business closures, seasonal slowdowns, and cost pressures more sharply. High expenses and limited room for big expansion can also make growth harder. Rhode Island was creating jobs, but losses clearly had the lead.
