#41: Maine
Jobs Gained: 6.2%
Jobs Lost: 7.0%
Maine had plenty of job movement, but losses were stronger than gains. New jobs can come from tourism, health care, restaurants, fishing, construction, education, and small businesses that serve both locals and visitors, especially during busier travel seasons.

But Maine can also lose jobs when seasonal work slows down, costs rise, or smaller employers struggle to stay open. Rural areas may have fewer new job options, and some businesses have trouble finding workers. So while jobs were still being created, more were disappearing in this data.
