#4: Hawaii
Jobs Gained: 5.1%
Jobs Lost: 4.8%
Hawaii had a small but positive job balance, with new jobs appearing slightly faster than old ones disappeared. Tourism still plays a huge role here, so hotels, restaurants, transportation, entertainment, and travel-related services can help create work when visitors keep coming.

At the same time, Hawaii’s job market can be fragile because so much depends on tourism and high living costs. When travel slows, businesses cut back, or local companies struggle with expenses, jobs can disappear quickly. So even with gains, the state still faces pressure.
